Pa. Court Won’t Revisit Decision Overruling Objections to Personal Jurisdiction in Asbestos Talc Case

PHILADELPHIA –– A Pennsylvania state court has rejected efforts by Imerys Talc America to revisit the question of jurisdiction in an asbestos talc case, allowing its earlier decision overruling preliminary objections based on personal jurisdiction to stand.

In a Dec. 18 motion filed in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Imerys Talc America had asked the court to reconsider an earlier order in which the court had overruled preliminary objections based on lack of personal jurisdiction.

The court issued its one-page decision denying the motion for reconsideration on Jan. 8.
