N.C. Court Awards Union Carbide Summary Judgment in Asbestos Action

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –– A North Carolina federal court has awarded Union Carbide summary judgment in an asbestos action, concluding that the plaintiff had failed to provide any evidence that the decedent was exposed to the defendant’s product.

In the Dec. 7 opinion, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina noted that the plaintiff had not opposed the motion.

Plaintiff Jonathan A. Queen filed the underlying claims on behalf of William Harold Queen, contending that the decedent developed mesothelioma as a result of exposure to asbestos-containing products he encountered during his employment as a laborer at DuPont. ...
