NEW YORK — Insurance Company of the Americas is appealing a New York federal judge’s vacatur of a reinsurance arbitration award on the basis of evident partiality, according to a recent filing.

In an April 20 notice filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, ICA says it plans to challenge Judge Vernon S. Broderick’s finding that party arbitrator Alex Campos’ failure to disclose his financial relationship with one of the parties constitutes evident partiality because it would lead a reasonable person to conclude that the arbitrator was partial to one side.
