Wis. Court Awards Summary Judgment to 7 Defendants in Asbestos Case; Allows Claims to Proceed Against John Crane

MADISON, Wis. –– A Wisconsin federal court has awarded summary judgment to seven asbestos defendants, concluding in part that the plaintiffs had failed to present evidence that those companies had manufactured a defective product or failed to warn about the dangers of asbestos.

In an April 12 order, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin opined that there was “more than enough evidence” for a reasonable jury to find John Crane liable since testimony showed that the defendant’s asbestos-containing components were “routinely used” at the workplace of the decedent.
