WASHINGTON, D.C. –– A Texas representative has reintroduced legislation in the House of Representatives aimed at requiring the public disclosure of claims submitted with asbestos bankruptcy trusts.

Blake Farenthold (R-Texas) introduced H.R. 906, the “Furthering Asbestos Claim Transparency (FACT) Act of 2017,” on Feb. 7. It was referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary the same day.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed similar legislation last year by a vote of 211-188; that bill was passed after it was folded into the Fairness in Class Action Litigation Act, but it ultimately did not pass the U.S. Senate. Legislation introduced …
