Ill. Federal Jury Finds for Zimmer in 3rd Bellwether NexGen Knee Action




CHICAGO — Zimmer has prevailed in the third bellwether NexGen Flex knee implant case to go to trial, in which an Illinois federal jury found that the manufacturer’s warnings regarding device failure in obese patients were adequate.

In a Jan. 26 verdict, the jury issued a verdict in favor of Zimmer on Beverly Goldin’s claims of failure to warn and punitive damages. The trial, which was presided over by Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, began on Jan. 13 and ended on Jan. 25.
