Conn. Federal Court Orders Removing Defendant to Show Cause for Federal Jurisdiction

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A Connecticut federal court has ordered a company named as a defendant in an asbestos case to show cause as to whether the court has jurisdiction over the matter, noting that it has not set forth the basis for complete diversity.

In the Dec. 8 order, the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut wrote that not only had the defendant failed to properly outline the grounds for asserting that complete diversity exists, but it has also failed to substitute the proper party in the action.
