Calif. Supreme Court Denies Petition to Review Defense and Plaintiff Objections to Multi-Million Judgment in Asbestos Case




SAN FRANCISCO –– The California Supreme Court has declined to weigh in on a dispute in a plumber’s asbestos suit, allowing a multi-million judgment entered against Kaiser Gypsum to stand.

Both parties filed petitions for review in the wake of the court’s decision, according to the California Supreme Court’s online docket. The high court denied the petitions for review on April 27, however.

The Supreme Court’s decision effectively leaves in place an intermediate appellate court order that found, in part, that the trial court did not err when ordering that a separate jury hear arguments on punitive damages …
