PHOENIX –– An Arizona federal jury has awarded $17 million at the conclusion of an asbestos trial involving claims brought on behalf of a former shipyard machinist who came into contact with asbestos-containing gaskets and packing in part while working as a civilian employee for the U.S. Navy.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona jury reached the verdict on April 22 after a three-week trial and approximately three hours of deliberations, multiple sources confirmed to HarrisMartin. Judge Susan R. Bolton presided over the trial.
