Widow of Former Sandblaster/Painter Files Silica Exposure Lawsuit in Louisiana Federal Court

NEW ORLEANS –– The widow of a former paint and sandblaster has filed a silica exposure lawsuit, contending that her husband’s exposure to the dust caused him to develop connective tissue cancer.

In the eight-page complaint, filed Jan. 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the plaintiff said the decedent was not given the proper respiratory protective gear.

Plaintiff Rose Wade asserted the claims on behalf of Garland R. Wade, contending that his work as a sandblaster and painter exposed him to silica dust.
