Imerys Talc America Backs Motion for Summary Judgment, Says it Only Supplied ‘Fundamentally Safe Raw Mineral’

ST. LOUIS –– Imerys Talc America Inc. has backed its motion for summary judgment, saying that it is not the manufacturer of the finished product to which the plaintiffs alleged exposure.

In the Dec. 30 reply brief filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, Imerys maintained that it “never had responsibility for the manufacturing, composition, labeling, packaging or advertising of those body powders.

“Despite that reality, Plaintiff repeatedly conflates Imerys’ raw talc with Johnson & Johnson’s finished, packaged, and marketed body powders that are placed on store shelves for sale to consumers,” the reply brief …
