Wrongful Death Action Filed Against AstraZeneca In Connection With Diabetes Drug Onglyza

CHICAGO — An Illinois woman has brought a wrongful death action against AstraZeneca, accusing the drug maker of failing to adequately warn doctors and patients of the cardiac risks associated with its diabetes drug Onglyza.

According to the Oct. 28 filing, the inadequate warnings proximately caused the plaintiff’s mother to die from cardiac arrest and that AstraZeneca knew the drug was unsafe and unfit for its intended use. AstraZeneca removed the complaint, originally filed in the Cook County Circuit Court, to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
