Federal Judge Stays Calif. Action Without Ruling on Plaintiff's Motion to Remand

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A federal judge has granted a defense motion to stay a DePuy Pinnacle hip case pending transfer, saying the plaintiff will not be prejudiced by having his motion decided by the MDL court, which is likely to address the issue in multiple cases. Freisthler v. DePuy Orthopaedics Inc., et al., No. 11-cv-6580-DSF (C.D. Calif.).
The ruling came on Sept. 21 by Judge Dale S. Fischer of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in a case filed by George Freisthler over alleged defects in his Pinnacle Acetabular Cup System hip implant.
