NEW ORLEANS-A federal judge upheld a previous decision to stay proceedings in two PPA product liability lawsuits and denied two individual motions to lift stay and re-open the case. Washington v. Bayer Corp., et al., No. 02-0698 Section 'T'(4) (E.D. La.); McCrary v. Bayer Corp., et al., No. 2-0642 Section 'T'(5) (E.D. La.).

The motions were filed after a June 12 decision by U.S. District Judge Thomas Porteus, who stated that a temporary stay in the proceedings would better serve judicial economy and benefit the plaintiffs by reducing the risk of inconsistent rulings.
