WASHINGTON, D.C.-Twenty-three members of the military have filed a lawsuit in federal court against the manufacturers of an anthrax vaccine after allegedly suffering adverse reactions from Anthrax Vaccine Adsorbed (AVA) that were so severe they eventually lead to their discharge from the armed forces. Bonasse, et al v. Bioport Inc. et al., No. 1:02cv00880 (D. D.C.)

The complaint, filed May 7 in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, alleges that each of the plaintiffs involuntarily received injections of the AVA as part of the Anthrax Vaccination Immunization Program (AVIP), which required all military personnel to receive the inoculations …
