Insurer Says Agent Mishandled $1.88 Million in Reinsurance Claims

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A cedent has amended its complaint against a managing general agent, alleging that the agent failed to properly transmit $1.88 million in losses to reinsurers. Alabama Municipal Insurance Corp. v. Alliant Insurance Services Inc., No. 2:09-928 (M.D. Ala.).

The amended complaint was filed by Alabama Municipal Insurance Corp. against Alliant Insurance Services Inc. on March 2. Judge W. Keith W. Watkins of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama dismissed the original complaint, ruling that it failed to properly state a claim for breach of contract.
