Dispute Between Hartford, IRB Brasil Sent to Arbitration

WATERBURY, Conn. - A Connecticut state judge has ruled that arbitration of a reinsurance dispute between Hartford Accident and Indemnity Co. and IRB Brasil Resseguros S.A. would not prejudice Hartford because there is no risk that issues will be re-litigated. Hartford Accident and Indemnity Co. v. ACE American Reinsurance Co., et al., No. 02-030178122S (Conn. Super., Waterbury).

Judge Dennis G. Eveleigh of the Waterbury Superior Court further ruled that Hartford has not spent substantial sums in litigating its claims against IRB.
