Judge Refuses to Stay Discovery in Commutation Dispute

CHICAGO - An Illinois federal judge has denied SCOR Reinsurance Co.'s motion to stay discovery in a dispute over whether a 2006 commutation agreement terminated certain facultative contracts between the parties. Continental Casualty Co., et al. v. Commercial Risk Re-Insurance Co., No. 1:07-cv-06912 (N.D. Ill.).

On March 10, Judge Harry D. Leinenweber of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois denied the motion without comment. SCOR asserted that discovery should be stayed pending the judge's ruling as to whether its commutation dispute with CNA should be arbitrated.
