Oklahoma Jury Awards Family $11.55 Million for Rezulin Death

TULSA, Okla. - A jury has awarded the family of an Oklahoma man $11.55 million in damages after concluding that that the diabetes drug Rezulin caused his fatal liver injury. Wakefield v. Warner Lambert Co., et al., No. CJ-2000-4654 (Okla. Dist. Ct., Tulsa Cty.).

The March 25 verdict was the culmination of a nearly three-week-long trial that began March 6 and ended with the Tulsa County Circuit Court jury awarding the family of Michael Wakefield $1.55 million in compensatory damages and $10 million in punitive damages, sources told HarrisMartin Publishing.
