Judge Orders Reinsurers to Post $5.6 Million

WATERBURY, Conn. - A Connecticut state judge has ordered a group of unauthorized reinsurers to post approximately $5.6 million in security, plus interest, to secure any judgment rendered in favor of plaintiff Hartford Accident and Indemnity Co. Hartford Accident and Indemnity Co. v. Ace American Reinsurance Co., No. (X02)CV030178122S (Conn. Super., Waterbury).

On Sept. 19, Judge Dennis G. Eveleigh of the Connecticut Superior Court ordered the following reinsurers to post a total of $5,655,218 in security: Anglo French Insurance Company Ltd., CGU International Insurance PLC, Eagle Star Insurance Company Ltd., Fortis Insurance Ltd., IRB Brasil Resseguros, National Casualty Company of …
