Judge Stays Litigation Pending Settlement Talks in Commutation Dispute

CHICAGO - An Illinois federal judge has stayed a dispute over whether a 2006 commutation agreement terminated certain facultative reinsurance contracts, pending settlement discussions between the parties. Continental Casualty Co., et al. v. Commercial Risk Re-Insurance Co., No. 1:07-cv-06912 (N.D. Ill.).

On Aug. 27, Judge Harry D. Leinenweber of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois entered an agreed order staying litigation between Continental Casualty Co. and Continental Insurance Co. (CNA, collectively) and SCOR Reinsurance Co.
