Calif. Judge Denies Cedent New Trial in Aerojet Case

SAN FRANCISCO - In the wake of adverse jury verdicts, a California state judge has denied Transport Insurance Co. a new trial of its indemnity claims against its reinsurers, TIG Insurance Co. and Seaton Insurance Co. Transport Insurance Co. v. TIG Insurance Co., Nos. 06-448898 and 06-448994 (Calif. Super., San Francisco Co.).

Judge Charlotte W. Woolard of the San Francisco County Superior Court issued the July 30 order.

In its June 6 verdicts, the jury found that Transport's claims against TIG and Seaton arising out of Transport's settlement of underlying pollution claims were untimely filed.
