Plaintiffs Seek Consolidation of 100-Plus Mirena ‘Pseudotumor Cerebri’ Intracranial Injury Lawsuits

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A petition was filed late Thursday urging the Judicial Panel on Mutlidistrict Litigation (JPML) to create a centralized docket for more than 100 lawsuits filed by women who claim they developed intracranial hypertension as a result of their use of Bayer’s Mirena birth control device.

In their Dec. 29 petition to transfer all pending and future Mirena cases to a federal judge in Mississippi, the plaintiffs contend that hundreds of additional cases alleging similar injuries — also commonly referred to as Pseudotumor Cerebri — are forthcoming.
