Plaintiffs Seek MDL Centralization of Class Actions Over Firmware That Disabled HP Printers

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Plaintiffs in one of four pending nationwide class actions accusing HP Inc. of using software updates to disable HP printers that utilized competitors’ ink cartridges have moved to consolidate the cases in California.

The Dec. 5 motion filed with the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation says that the claims in all four cases against HP are sufficiently similar to warrant transfer and coordination before a single federal judge, specifically Judge Lucy H. Koh of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
