MIAMI –– A Florida jury has awarded more than $9 million at the conclusion of a bystander asbestos exposure trial, entering a verdict against premises defendant Northrop Grumman Systems Corp., sources told HarrisMartin.

The Florida 11th Judicial Circuit Court for Miami-Dade County reached the verdict on Sept. 27. Judge William Thomas presided over the trial, which began on Sept. 19.

During trial, Rosa-Maria Britt contended that her late husband, Dennis E. Britt, developed malignant pleural mesothelioma as a result of exposure to asbestos-containing insulation material present at Northrop Grumman’s facilities in New York and California. Britt said he was …
