Family of Former Machinist, Chevron USA Inc. Reach Settlement Agreement in Benzene Case; Claims Dismissed

NEW ORLEANS –– A Louisiana federal court has issued an order dismissing a benzene-related case without prejudice, five days after the plaintiffs had filed an ex parte motion indicating their desire to dismiss all claims against Chevron USA Inc.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana issued its order on Jan. 25.

The plaintiffs filed the lawsuit less than one year ago on behalf of James Roberton Sr., saying that his work for Brown & Root as a machinist from 1970 to 1986 at the Alliance Refinery caused him to come into contact with benzene-containing products.
