Alabama Man Accuses Eliquis Makers of Fraud, Says Anticoagulant Caused Brain Hemorrhage

MOBILE, Ala. — An Alabama man who suffered an intracranial hemorrhage after taking Eliquis has sued Bristol-Myers Squibb and Pfizer, accusing the companies of fraud in connection with clinical trials conducted prior to the FDA’s approval of the blockbuster blood thinner.

In a complaint filed July 28 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama, Lester Baldwin Jr. alleges that the drug manufacturers failed to disclose potentially damaging results from a Chinese study that was largely relied upon by federal regulators who approved the new drug application for Eliquis.
