Parties in 2 Pending Benzene Cases Reach Settlement Agreement; Motions for Sanctions Denied

PHILADELPHIA –– The parties remaining in two Pennsylvania state court benzene lawsuits have reached settlement agreements, according to recently filed court documents.

The notices of settlement were entered on June 12 and 24 by the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas for Philadelphia County in cases brought by Layne and Cynthia Kleinschmit and by James and Linda Brunson.

The settlements come just weeks after Sunoco Inc. filed motions for sanctions in the cases. The court denied the defendant’s efforts in Brunson on May 19, while the motion was denied as moot in Kleinschmit in light of the settlement.
