Policyholder Sues Allianz, Seeking Payment of $1.1 Million Superstorm Sandy Property Damage Claim

NEW YORK — A policyholder has sued Allianz Global Risks US Insurance Co. in New York federal court, seeking payment of its $1.1 million claim for property damage sustained during Superstorm Sandy.

In a June 12 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Nomura Holding America Inc. accuses the insurer of wrongfully delaying appraisal and payment of its claim.

Nomura was insured under an Allianz commercial lines policy, which provided broad coverage of up to $325 million for the period of Dec. 8, 2011, to Dec. 8, 2012. The perils insured against include …
