NEW ORLEANS — Since an insured failed to respond to an insurer’s motion for summary judgment in a Hurricane Isaac flood damage case, the insurer is entitled to an award of summary judgment, a Louisiana federal judge has ruled.

In a Jan. 22 order, Judge Nannette J. Brown of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana awarded The Hartford Fire Insurance Co. summary judgment.

The Hartford Fire Insurance Co. issued Michel Remy a Standard Flood Insurance Policy that covered Remy’s property in LaPlace, La. The policy, effective from Aug. 19, 2012, to Aug. 19, 2013, was issued …
