Ill. Jury Finds for Insulation Contractor, Railroad Defendants in Asbestos Lung Cancer Case

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. –– An Illinois jury has reached a defense verdict in favor of an insulation contractor and a railroad defendant, rejecting the plaintiff’s claims that the decedent’s lung cancer was caused by exposure to asbestos while working at a rail yard.

The Illinois Circuit Court for McLean County jury deliberated for one-and-a-half hours before reaching the defense verdict on Oct. 28, sources said. Judge Rebecca Foley presided over the three-week trial.

Sprinkmann Sons Corporation of Illinois and Illinois Central Railroad were the lone remaining defendants at the time of the verdict, sources said.
