Apple Bans Use of Benzene, n-Hexane in Production of iPhone, iPad Products

CUPERTINO, Calif. –– Apple will no longer use benzene or n-hexane in the production of its iPhone, iPad and other Mac products, according to the company.

While the company said that it did not find evidence that Apple factory workers were at risk as a result of being exposed to the chemicals, it opted to cease using them in the production process, according to published reports.

Apple also said that it would allow the chemicals to be used in early production phases, but it planned on lowering the maximum amount of chemicals used to create the products.
