Wisconsin Governor Signs Asbestos Bankruptcy Trust Disclosure Legislation into Law

MADISON, Wis. –– Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has signed off on legislation that now requires asbestos plaintiffs to disclose claims pending with bankruptcy trusts, or indicate their intention to file claims with personal injury trusts.

Gov. Walker signed the legislation –– 2013 Wisconsin Act 154 –– on March 27. The Act was published the next day.

The legislation was passed by the state’s Assembly on March 20 by a vote of 55-38. One week earlier, Wisconsin senators approved the measure by a vote of 17-16 after amending the bill slightly.
