DePuy Moves for Partial Summary Judgment Before Jan. Trial in ASR Hip Case

SAN FRANCISCO — DePuy Orthopaedics Inc. (NYSE: JNJ) has moved for summary judgment on design defect and several other counts in a California ASR hip implant case scheduled for trial in January.

DePuy filed the motion Nov. 21 in San Francisco Superior Court, asking, too, that the court apply North Dakota substantive law to claims filed by Loren Kransky, a former longtime resident of that state.

Superior Court Judge Richard A. Kramer, who presides over California’s coordinated DePuy ASR hip implant docket (DePuy ASR Hip System Cases, JCCP No. 4649) has granted Kransky an expedited trial schedule for health reasons …
