Louisiana Jury Awards $7.55 Million in Asbestos Case Against John Crane




NEW ORLEANS -- A Louisiana jury has awarded $7.55 million to a former plant worker, finding that Rexam Beverage Can Co., John Crane Inc. and Haveg Inc.'s negligence caused the former worker's mesothelioma. Kenney v. A.W. Chesterton, et al., No. 11-636 (La. Civil Dist. Ct., Orleans Parish.).

After less than one day of deliberations, the Louisiana Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans jury found that Rexam Beverage Can Co. (f/k/a American Can), John Crane and Haveg were responsible for Kenney's illness.

The jury reached the verdict on Sept. 8. Judge Kern A. Reese presided over the trial. …
